Meet my son + Birth story.

As I have been overwhelmed with comments on my pregnancy announcement, many of which I haven’t read until now, I thought I will introduce you to my son and share my birth story .It makes me feel guilty that I haven’t shared my journey with you due to needing a break from blogging.

Pregnancy for me was never easy. I had to quit work because I was very anaemic. I didn’t have many symptoms such as sickness but I had anaemia and low blood pressure throughout my first and second trimester. The third trimester came and I finally started showing and looking pregnant, I had very good core muscles, HAD being the main word haha, but up until then part from my anaemia I had a fairly easy pregnancy compared to others.

I got to 36 weeks pregnant I had a general check up with my midwife, she examined my stomach and she was pretty certain that he wasn’t head down and was in fact frank breech. If you don’t know what frank breech is then here’s a photo of what he would have looked like.

I was booked in for a scan at 37 weeks at a hospital to see if he had turned and if not I would either had to get him turned which is known as ECV, have a C-section or try and give birth anyway which wasn’t medically advised. At 37 weeks the nurse found that he hadn’t turned and because I had good core muscles with little amniotic fluid if an ECV was done he would either not turn or just pop back again.

I did a TON of research, much to my consultant’s dismay I chose to have a C-section. I went with what my gut was telling me (which is always right every time) and I just had this awful reason that my son wasn’t turning for a very good reason and to have him turned with the huge risks it comes with didn’t sit right with me. And to have a natural birth with huge risks that came with it didn’t sit right with me either. So there was it my natural water birth with no pain relief full of rainbows and smiles that everyone seems to talk about went completely out of the window. I could have gone along with what made my consultant happy and possibly have the rainbows and smiles but it wasn’t about him, it wasn’t about me or my selfish idealistic birth that I had painted in my head. It was about what was best for my unborn baby. The decision was left in my hands which I found extremely difficult giving that I never had surgery and was scared of needles.

The day came for me to have my C-section. I had a canula in my hand after the second attempt when the student nurse burst my vein! Myself and Jamie were both prepped for theatre. I had to go in the horrible cold theatre all on my own and sit and have a long needle put into my spine which is known as a spinal block to numb the majority of my body. They pumped various different drugs into me many of which I can’t remember because of the drugs. My memory goes hazy after that happened so the rest of this post may sound short but sweet.

The team laid me down and checked if i was numb and made the first cut, Jamie was then allowed to come in the room we was both balling our eyes out during the whole c-section. I felt ALOT OF hard tugging and pulling which made me feel sick. Eventually Archie Peter Robb was born on the 20th of September 2016 at 11:18 am with a very good set of lungs on him! He cried almost straight away. The midwife took him somewhere to check everything was okay with him (procedure when you have a c-section in the UK). I was then shaking vigorously which is apparently normal but I thought I was dieing and started to panic. (you can imagine how traumatising this all was for someone with severe anxiety) eventually Jamie came over with Archie looking so proud balling his eyes out and that was the first time I saw my son. The moment I will never forget and one of the moments I can actually remember clearly throughout the whole thing!

What Happens When You Call the National Suicide Hotline | From a Former Volunteer — Counselor Ashlei

Whenever people are in an active crisis or considering taking their own lives, it is commonly recommended that they call the National Suicide Hotline for immediate emotional support. However, many people are afraid to utilize the Suicide Hotline as a resource, either out of fear of the unknown (i.e., “What will happen when I call?”) or […]

Let’s talk… Anxiety.

One of the many reasons as to why I had stopped blogging for so long was due to my long ongoing battle with depression and anxiety.

You are probably thinking wow another person? Because there are so many people who claim to have mental health issues who probably haven’t been diagnosed because the past couple of years its become some sort of fad and some people find it “cool”. There is nothing cool or amazing about actually living with a mental illness and for those of us that do find it rather offensive when teenagers flippantly just use the word anxiety and depression in their everyday vocabulary such as- “looking at the man doing that gives me anxiety” “doing homework makes me depressed”. Depression and anxiety aren’t feelings they are illnesses.

Both these illnesses are what I have been battling since I was a child and it wasn’t until 2 years ago that I beat depression but my anxiety is still there and after a lot of trial and error only a few days ago I finally found medication for it that is right for me. I have had counselling and therapy which only helped to a certain extent, I haven’t had any panic attacks since going through cognitive behavioural therapy but the anxiety is still there due to various traumatic events which I may open up about in another post if any of you request it. To be honest I don’t think any amount of therapy or lifestyle change will make it go away that’s why as a last resort I have turned to tablets.

It’s not just being around other people and crowds ,which people stereotype anxiety to be, I even get anxious in my own home which makes my anxiety quite severe the only time I feel safe is when my fiance is home which is for 2 days every 2 weeks as he works round the country. I have lost a lot of my friends and family due to my mental health so Jamie being home is my safe place because hes one of the few that understand and takes care of me. Luckily since taking my new pot of tablets I feel like I may finally be what people consider normal again. It’s a very strange feeling as I can’t remember the last time I felt this relaxed.

And for those of you who may be worried that you or somebody else may have anxiety I have listed below the main signs and symptoms.

  • Irritability
  • Fatigue
  • Excessive worrying
  • Overthinking
  • Paranoia
  • Insomnia
  • Panic attacks
  • Feeling Dizzy
  • Loss of appetite
  • Avoiding places and people
  • Compulsive behaviour

Just remember these are just a handful of symptoms, some of these symptoms may be caused by something else so please don’t assume, instead speak to your GP and they can refer you to the right person.

Thank you for reading the short version of why I have been away for so long. If you would like me to elaborate and talk more about this topic then feel free to comment below.

New me, New Blog.

So, for the past 2 years or so I went a bit awol. I took a long break from posting on my blog.

The past 2 years I have moved house twice, had a baby and battled some health issues. I also took a year out of my uni degree so instead of going into my fourth year I am going into my third. Now things are back on track I have revamped my blog. I am still going to keep my old posts because I can’t bring myself to delete them!

Now I have grown and become a mother, my blog posts are going to be a bit different. There will be less beauty and more posts about my life and family. I hope you all will take this change positively and support my new style of blogging.

I can’t wait to get back into the swing of things!

Much Love, Becca-Anne

My March Favourites!

Hello everyone! I know this is super duper late but April has just flown by hasn’t it? I can’t believe we are nearly at the end of the month!

I didn’t have many favourites in March as I have been sticking to products that I already love but I have found some really good buys!

IMG_3379[1]   IMG_3380[1]

The first one is the Baby Lips in electro by Maybelline. I have been absolutely loving this at the moment, it is a lovely colour for spring and it is also build-able.  You can be subtle or out there which is what I love. I tend to use this on days where I want a break from matte lipsticks which you know dry the life out of your lips but still what a bit of colour to brighten up my make-up. This lip tint is long lasting depending on how much you eat and drink and also so moisturising which is perfect for this time of year!

Next up is the Make-up Revolution Salvation Palette (Girls On Film). I have been using this nearly every day. There are a mixture between matte and shimmer shades which leaves you many make-up looks to play with! Each shade is very pigmented and last for most of the day, they also blend so well. My favourites that I have been reaching for are One in a Million, Smile Wider, So Bright, Heads Turning and Lights Flashing.

Another one of my favourites is white eye liner by Laval, at the moment I have been loving lining my water line and the corner of my eyes with white eye liner I find it makes my eyes pop out more look less tired and it leaves me with a more fresh look. This eyeliner usuaully lasts for a couple of hours but then needs topping up that’s not just this eyeliner though most eyeliners do not stay on, my eyes they are too watery!

I don’t usually post about perfumes because I am forever changing what I like and I am so fussy when it comes to new scents. The Beckham Signature for her was actually purchased by my lovely boyfriend although he did get the wrong one and picked this one up! I find the scent to be very fresh with a hint of floral, I don’t usually like floral fragrances but this one smells so pretty and subtle, it is the perfect day time perfume which I would say lasts on me for 5-6 hours.

I know what you are thinking- another conditioner? I think I have an obsession with trying out new conditioners once one runs out I never stick with the same one. This time I have been loving Elvive Nourish & Shimmer by Loreal Paris. I actually saw this on offer at Tesco and seeing as I don’t usually use conditioner for my highlighted hair I was interested in giving it ago. The conditioner smells so lovely! Kind of like honey but not sickly sweet. In the conditioner itself it has these gold glittery bits which I found pretty cool! I usually use this inbetween using my toning conditioner and I find it keeps my brassiness at bay and my colour looking fresh, aswell as hydrating my hair leaving it smooth and easily manageable.

Well that’s all my favourites for last month, sorry again that is was so late but I hope my post was worth the wait!

Thank you for reading

Exciting News: I’m Expecting!

Hello everyone! I’m so excited to share with you that I am 12 weeks and 3 days pregnant and due on the 23rd of September which may explain as to why I have been so unactive on here for a while! Along with feeling happy and excited to meet my little baby have come with a few problems.

All the way through my first trimester my blood pressure has been very low leading to me feeling exhausted and dizzy all the time, I have also fainted a couple of times at work which has been pretty scary. I have now had to quit my job as I can not cope with meeting the demands they required and stand for long periods without feeling faint. I want what is best for me and my baby and to try to have a steady pregnancy as I am only 5ft2 and have a small frame.

Although I have been struggling, I am now starting to pick myself up so you should be expecting plenty of pregnancy posts, updates and baby hauls which I am super excited to do!! I hope you are all as happy and excited as I am and looking forward to going through the incredible journey of me becoming a mother.

Take care & lots of love

Remington Pro-Ceramic Hair Straightener Review.

Hello everyone, I would like to share with you my favourite hair straightener which in my opinion beats any top straightener out there even GHDs.

I asked my boyfriend probably over 20 times if he could buy me the Remington Pro-Ceramic Hair straightener after using my sister in law’s before a night out and fell in love with them.

The features are:

  • Wide plates
  • Even heat distribution to prevent snagging
  • Digital LCD display heat setting of up to 230 Celsius.
  • Free heat resistant pad
  • 15 second heat-up time
  • Heat ready indicator
  • Ceramic plates.
  • Width of plates 45mm, length of plates 110mm
  • 1.8m swivel cord
  • Automatic safety shut-off after 60 minutes.

What I love about this hair straightener:

  • The wide plates- I have medium length hair so when it comes to straightening my hair it becomes a big chore and used to take me half an hour to do. With these it takes me 10 minutes!
  • Snag free- A big peeve of mine is that most hair straighteners snag your hair, cause dryness and breakage. I find these glide through my hair and my hair has been in so much better condition since using them.
  • Free heat resistant pad- Yes I know you can buy these separately and alot of hair straighteners  do come with them but I just got too excited in getting one for free because if you are clumsy like me you end up burning your dressing table or bed without one!
  • Light weight- They may have wide plates and look a bit heavy but don’t be mistaken! These are the lightest straighteners I have used and find I don’t get achy arms any more!

So if you are looking for a new hair straightener I highly recommend you try these out you will be very surprised. They cost £50.00 but I have looked on Amazon and they are currently going for £30.89 with free delivery!

Take care

My January Favourites!

Hello everyone! I hope you all have had a good christmas!

This is my first post in what 2 months?! Thank you for being patient with me as I have had a lot on which I shall inform you guys about at a later date.

In January I have really found some great products which I have fallen in love with!

The first product that I would like to talk about is the Witch Naturally Clear Gentle Ex foliating Wash. I tend to try out new skin products all the time because I like to switch up my skin care routine but I find I always come back to this one! Not only does this product keeps my spots and blackheads at bay, it leaves my skin feel smooth, soft, fresh and really clean without that horrible tight tingly feeling that some products give you! It has tiny ex foliating beads that are so gentle on your skin you barely realise they are there but you can feel them working! I love the feel and look of my skin after using it!

Next up is the Radox Berry Burst Shower Cream, I was actually bought a set of Radox as a Christmas present and I found this was my favourite one! The product is so light on your skin yet creamy and smells absolutely divine! It leaves you skin feeling soft and fresh. I have found that after use I smell of this for hours but it is not too sickly or overpowering. Sweet scents are my favourite!

The Herbal Essences Nourish Me Butter is the product that I have been so excited to talk about! Herbal Essences have always been my favourite hair brand and have never failed to please. I decided to try this one out as it is the only one that I haven’t used yet. First of all the conditioner smells so amazing! A bit like honey and milk and it is so creamy! I found that this product leaves my hair so smooth so shiny and tangle free which lasts until I next wash my hair. It makes me look forward to washing my hair which I have always found to be a chore!

Another product which I have found myself always coming back to is the Cyclax Face & Body Cream. One of the reasons why I like this product is because it comes in a 300ml tub and only cost me 99p! Because I have oily skin I find it so difficult to find a moisturiser that doesn’t clog my pores or make my skin more greasy that it already is, this product is so light, oil free and leaves my skin matte and baby smooth. I have also found that it is brilliant to use under my eyes as well at night and really helps with my bags. Really this is a multi use product for a pittance and 10X better than the expensive brands I have previously used.

If you have been following my blog for a while you will know that my favourite spot gel used to be Witch Doctor which I was so sad to find that it has been discontinued and can’t find it anywhere!! 😦 So I went out trying new spots gels again to find something that met it’s match. This is when I came across the Superdrug Deep Action Anti-Blemish Gel. I have found this product absolutely amazing at keeping my spots and cystic acne away. It cools your skin and gets rid of any irritation as well as downsizing your spots over night. It does not dry out your skin or leave any scarring which is a huge bonus for me as most spot treatments do! I know cannot leave without this product and have repurchased it 3 times already!

Lastly, again if you have been following my blog for a while I mentioned using Pearl Drops to whiten your teeth. As I was doing my tesco order I found the Pearl Drops Restore White for tea and coffee drinkers on offer. I am not a big fan of tea or coffee but I tend to drink a lot of tea through the winter to keep me warm! This has caused discolouration to my teeth. Since using this product my teeth have become so much whiter and the yellowing stains have been completely removed. My teeth are now an off white colour ! What I like about this product is that the paste has little ex foliating balls which really help to get rid of any grime and it makes your teeth feel so fresh after! The taste isn’t strong and is more spearmint which is great for me as I am really sensitive to strong toothpastes!

That’s it for my January favourites, if you have any questions feel free to comment. I try my best to reply as soon as I can.

Take care
